She's Been Away Add Video

Peggy Ashcroft and Geraldine James deliver two of the most stunning and memorable performances ever seen on the small screen in this made-for-television story about an odd and unexpected pact that develops between two very seemingly different women - Lillian, who has euphemistically "been away" since her rebellious girlhood a half a century ago, and the sophisticated, 'happily married' Harriet, who is married to Lillian's nephew. Brought together when Lillian is returned to the world, the pair find a common purpose which has unpredictable, albeit  thoroughly hilarious yet credible (and risky) consequences. A great film from the very good dramatist,  Stephen Poliakoff. This one is not to be missed.
