Writers' Forum... Seminar and discussions with screenwriter, Jean-Claude Carriere, and several Aboriginal writers, as part of a tour of French playwrights to Australia, sponsored by the Sydney Theatre Company.

Participating artist, exhibition of original paintings at the Barry Stern Gallery, Paddington, NSW.

Resided in San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mexico, where I was engaged in researching and writing a play about the Soviet filmmaker, Sergei Eisenstein. Invited to read my poetry at the Belles Artes with Octavio Paz.

Co-founder (w/ Paul Thompson): The Writers' Forum, Sydney Theatre Company, a formal discussion group open to a limited number of practising writers (by invitation only) for the purpose of providing a useful and stimulating context within which writers can come together to discuss ideas and issues relevant to their work.

Initiated, organised and participated in "The American Walkabout Tour" which featured a cross-section of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists and their work. Tour participants included two Walpiri songmen/painters (Dinny Nolan Tjampitjinpa and Paddy Carroll Tjungurrayi), and three, Australian performance poets. The actual tour lasted seven weeks with performances in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Two of my films - Desert Stories and
Nosepeg's Movie - were featured at the Pacific Rim Film Festival, Santa Cruz, California, during the tour.

Organised several major exhibitions/workshops of Papunya/Tula painting (Aboriginal dot painting). Venues include Wagga City Art Gallery; Alexander Mackie College; Australian Film, Television and Radio School; Sydney City College; Syd's Gallery
(Sydney); and Santa Fe's Centre for Contemporary Arts and Crafts.

Organised major performances of Aboriginal song cycles (Tingarri) at The Aboriginal and Islander Dance Theatre (Sydney); and the Araluen Arts Centre (Alice Springs)
.

Organised and coordinated the launching of a major cultural exchange programme between the West Coast of the United States and Australia. This programme was funded, in part, by Cabrillo College (Santa Cruz, California) and by the Literature Board of the Australia Council. In March, 1989, three American poets - Morton Marcus, Anita Wilkins, and Joe Stroud - travelled to Australia as part of this exchange and took part in a number of poetry workshops and public readings. The "Walkabout Tour" of 1991 was a continuation of this programme.
