Why Shoot the Teacher? is one of the most successful English Canadian films of all time. A young man from the city Max Brown (Bud Cort), finds himself hired by a small town school. His adjustment to the people in his district and the presence of a sophisticated British woman, Alice Field (Samantha Eggar) in this unlikely setting, become the focus for this engaging and heartfelt story. Based on the novel by Canadian author, Max Braithwaite, this is an excellent presentation of the details of daily life in a small town on the Canadian Prairie dustbowl of 1935.
